Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Fans throughout the Quad Cities will be able to see their hometown team live on television on June 10 and five additional times this season, as the Quad Cities River Bandits make the first of six 2008 appearances on regional television in a showdown against Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg and the Peoria Chiefs. The game will be aired statewide on Mediacom Connections Channel 22.

"We are looking forward to putting our product on display to a mass audience all across Iowa through this fantastic partnership with Mediacom," said team owner Dave Heller. "Fans that may not be able to make it to Modern Woodmen Park on a regular basis will have the opportunity to see River Bandits baseball without leaving their living room. And folks from Dubuque to Iowa City down to Grandview will be able to see all the fun our fans are having at Modern Woodmen Park this season, and hopefully they will be persuaded to get in their cars and make the drive."

All of the games will be available to fans in the Quad City Area as well as throughout the state of Iowa. The June 10 contest will be the first of four games that will be aired live, while two additional contests will be recorded and played on tape delay. The three other live games will take place on June 23, July 18, and August 9, while the dates of the tape delayed games have yet to be determined. All six games will also be aired in syndication throughout the following week.

"We are excited to be carrying a series of River Bandits games on our station this year," said Fred Klauke, Quad Cities Production Manager for Mediacom Connections. "Professional baseball is a great complement to our lineup of high school sports and other programming. The Quad Cities River Bandits are an important part of this community, and as such we are proud to be televising their games."

"Airing our games on television is a big part of raising the level of awareness of River Bandits baseball," said Vice President/General Manager Kirk Goodman. "We hope fans will not only see a great game, but see all that Modern Woodmen Park has to offer. It is one of the best ballparks in the Minor Leagues. Putting that on display for our local community as well as our extended community is only going to help us grow as an organization."
