West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

MIDLAND - Friday's scheduled double header between the West Michigan Whitecaps and the Great Lakes Loons has been postponed due to rain. The two teams will play back-to-back double headers beginning at 6:05 p.m. Saturday and 3:05 p.m. Sunday.

Following a delay of a half hour, the Loons took the field and began to warm up for the top of the first inning of game one. However, the umpires conferred with both managers and called the Loons off the field in the face of lightning and a steady rain.

The twinbill was ultimately postponed about an hour after the scheduled start time of 6:05 p.m.

Each game of each double header will be scheduled for seven innings. They will be the third and fourth double headers played by the Whitecaps this season. It will be the first time West Michigan will play back-to-back double dips since April 25 and 26, 2005 when the Whitecaps split both double headers against Peoria following consecutive snow-outs on April 23 and 24.

Friday's double header was the result of a rain out at Fifth Third Ballpark on April 10. Below are the anticipated pitching match ups for the remaining four games of the series: (West Michigan vs. Great Lakes) Saturday, Game One, 6:05 p.m.

RHP Alfredo Figaro (7-2, 1.22) vs. RHP Given Kutz (1-0, 1 save, 2.38) Saturday, Game Two RHP Paul Nardozzi (3-1, 2.94) vs. LHP Thomas Melgarejo (1-2, 4.38) Sunday, Game One, 3:05 p.m. LHP Victor Garate (4-0, 1.71) vs. RHP Manny Miguelez (1-3, 5.33) Sunday, Game Two RHP Daigoro Rondon (2-7, 6.09) vs. TBA The Davenport University Career Startup Show begins at 5:55 p.m. Saturday on 1340 WBBL, the Whitecaps Radio Network and at wbbl.com.
