Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Bowling Green, KY - Kyle Holloway hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Todd Glaesmann smacked an RBI single in the sixth, but the Hot Rods (19-16) fatigued bullpen wasn't able to hold that lead in a 4-2 loss to the South Bend Silver Hawks (16-19). The loss snaps the Hot Rods two-game winning streak to start this seven-game home stand.

Holloway's home run came as he led off the top of the first inning. The catcher, who entered the contest with three hits in his last two games, took a change-up from South Bend starter Patrick Shuster and smacked it into the Home Run Grill for a 1-0 lead. It was his first home run in 55 at-bats this season, extending his hitting streak to three games.

Glaesmann struck an inning later to give the Hot Rods a 2-0 lead. With Steve Tinoco at second base, Glaesmann rapped a two-out single to right field. It was Glaesmann's third hit of the game and his fifth hit in five consecutive at-bats dating back to extra innings on Thursday night.

South Bend's rally started after starter Eliazer Suero left the game after six shutout innings. Ramon Castillo smacked a two-run double off Matt Stabelfeld in the eighth inning, tying the game at 2-2. An inning later, with Omar Bencomo gave up a two-out, two-run double to Matt Helm to give the Silver Hawks their only lead of the game.

The teams now continue the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 5:05 PM. RHP George Jensen takes the ball in game one for the Hot Rods; LHP C.J. Riefenhauser gets the ball in game two. Both games are schedule for seven inning. After the conclusion of the second game, the team will launch post-game fireworks over Bowling Green Ballpark. For tickets, visit www.bghotrods.com.

You can listen to both games with Tom Gauthier and Josh Weinstock beginning at 4:40 PM CDT on 1340 AM WBGN and www.bghotrods.com.
