COMSTOCK PARK- Rising pop/hip-hop star Mike Posner, who shot to fame last summer with the catchy pop hit single "Cooler Than Me," will headline the 2011 "Party In The Park" concert at Fifth Third Ballpark on Thursday, July 14.
The 23-year-old Southfield, MI, native graduated from Duke University in 2010, where he recorded his debut album and toured on weekends while finishing his degree in sociology. The album, "31 Minutes to Takeoff," was released last August and peaked at #8 on the Billboard Album charts. It has spawned three singles, including "Cooler Than Me," which climbed to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts last July; "Please Don't Go," which peaked at #16 in December; and his current hit, "Bow Chicka Wow Wow," which stands at #36 on the charts.
The concert, held in conjunction with WSNX, is a continuation of the popular concert series with WSNX. Hit shows at Fifth Third Ballpark in previous years include B.o.B. (of "Airplanes" and "Nothin' On You" fame) in 2010 and Flo Rida with Sean Kingston and Justin Bieber, in what was the teen sensation's first major stage appearance, in 2009.
The Party in the Park will include several other musical acts to be announced at a later date. Field seats ($30) and reserved box tickets ($25) will go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 20. A special presale for Whitecaps season ticket holders and WSNX listeners will take place on May 18 and 19. Fans can listen to 104.5 WSNX for the passcode needed for the ticket presale. General admission seats ($20) will go on sale at a later date.
Eric O'Brien, program director for WSNX, said, "We are very excited to be bringing Mike Posner to one of the hottest shows of the summer! We're working on filling out the show and will be announcing more great acts in the weeks to come."
Tickets for the show can be purchased at the Fifth Third Ballpark Ticket, by calling the Fifth Third Ballpark office at 616-784-4131 or by visiting fifththirdballpark.com or 1045snx.com.
