
South Bay Drops Monday Matinee in Delaware

WILMINGTON, DE - The South Bay Lakers fell behind early and could not complete a late comeback as they lost to the Delaware Blue Coats, 119-109, on Monday afternoon. Kostas Antetokounmpo tallied his third consecutive double-double for the Lakers (10-17) with 21 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. Marial Shayok scored a game-high 29 points for Delaware (14-10) in the win.
Antetokounmpo and Zach Norvell Jr. combined for 16 points in the first quarter, but the Blue Coats held a slight 32-31 lead through one. Delaware pulled away in the second quarter behind 15 points from Shayok to take a 75-54 halftime lead.
Marcus Allen and Javan Felix combined for 16 points off the bench in the third quarter, however the Blue Coats held a 97-80 lead going into the final frame. South Bay cut Delaware's lead to single digits in the fourth as Antetokounmpo tallied seven points and six rebounds in the quarter, but the road team couldn't come away with the win.
Shayok's 29 points paced the Blue Coats, Xavier Munford finished with 21 points and Doral Moore led the second unit with 17 points. Julian Washburn tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Zhaire Smith scored 14 points. Jared Brownridge (13 points) and Christ Koumadje (10 points) also scored in double figures for Delaware.
Antetokounmpo's double-double led the way for South Bay and Norvell Jr. scored a team-high 22 points along with six rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. Allen and Felix each scored 18 points off the bench as Andre Ingram (12 points, four steals) and Talen Horton-Tucker (11 points) also reached double figures.
South Bay will finish their longest road trip of the season against the Long Island Nets on Wednesday, January 22 at 4:00pm from the NYCB LIVE's Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY.
