
Sound Tigers Tie Albany 1-1

ALBANY, NY - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, tied the Albany River Rats 1-1 on the road Friday. The Sound Tigers are now unbeaten-in-regulation in 16 games overall at 13-0-2-1, as well as nine games on the road at 7-0-2; both of which re-set franchise records.
Albany opened the scoring on their first power play as Craig Darby tapped the rebound of a Ray Giroux shot home for his seventh goal of the season 4:22 into the game. Krisjanis Redlihs also assisted on the goal, which snapped the Sound Tigers' five-game penalty-killing streak.
The Sound Tigers tied the game at 1-1 with 9:28 left in the first period as Mattias Timander scored his first goal of the season, and first with the team. Timander's goal was unassisted.
The Sound Tigers outshot Albany 40-21 and were 0 for 7 on the power play. The River Rats were 1 for 5 on the advantage. Albany Goaltender Ari Ahonen made 39 saves to earn the first star of the game. Timander was the second star, and Darby the third.
Wade Dubielewicz made 20 saves for the Sound Tigers and is now unbeaten in seven straight games at 6-0-1.
The Sound Tigers will return to Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard to host the Hershey Bears tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. and the Hartford Wolf Pack Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Both games will be web cast at www.soundtigers.com.
