December 5, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins battled to a 2-2 tie in front of 7,458 fans on a snowy night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence on Friday, as the teams wrapped up their two-game season series. The Bruins won the other meeting, 1-0 in Wilkes-Barre on November 9. With the tie, head coach Scott Gordon's club remains in third place in the Atlantic Division with its 11-8-5-0 record (27 points). The Black and Gold is just two points behind the division-leading Manchester Monarchs and Hartford Wolf Pack.
Bruin defenseman Rich Brennan notched the game-tying goal on a second period power play. The goal was the Bruin captain's third of the season. Center Andre Savage tallied his fourth goal of the year, moving him into seventh place on the franchise career scoring list, with 58-83-141 totals in 145 games.
Goaltender Hannu Toivonen stopped 23 shots and is 6-4-2 on the season.
Bruin right wing Pat Leahy was recalled by the Boston Bruins following the game. The 24-year-old native of Duxbury, Massachusetts leads Providence with nine goals, and ranks second on the club with 17 points in 23 games. He could make his NHL debut when Boston hosts the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
The Bruins are currently offering a Holiday FlexTix Special. The Special gives fans the opportunity to receive a free Providence Bruins hat, with the purchase of 10 FlexTix. The Holiday FlexTix promotion runs through December 31.
The Bruins visit the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday night at 7:35 p.m. They return home to host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Sunday, December 7 at 4:05 p.m.
