BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, rallied to beat the Hershey Bears 3-2 in a nine-round shootout at home in their final game of the 2004-05 season Sunday. It was the 27th home win of the year for the Sound Tigers, a single-season record for the team, and came in front of 5,993 fans pushing their overall and per-game attendance marks to single-season, franchise-records of 216,123 and 5,403 respectively.

The game remained scoreless until the teams combined for three goals in 46 seconds and four in 4:47, all inside the final five minutes of the third period.

Just 29 seconds, later Jeff Ulmer made it 2-0 Bears with his 22nd goal of the season off assists from Ryan Steeves and former Sound Tiger Mike Souza. However, the Sound Tigers answered just 17 seconds beyond that to cut the lead to 2-1 on Joe Tallari's fourth goal of the season off an assist from Cole Jarrett at the 15:19 mark.

The Sound Tigers pulled goaltender Wade Dubielewicz in favor of an extra attacker with 1:02 remaining and tied the game at 2-2 with just 39.3 seconds left in the season when Rob Collins tallied his team-leading 23rd goal and 61st point off assists from Tallari and Ryan Caldwell.

The game went into a four-on-four, five-minute overtime, but no one was able to score. Each team then scored three times in the first eight-and-a-half rounds of the shootout with Collins scoring twice and Justin Mapletoft doing so once for the Sound Tigers and Marek Svatos notching a pair and Ulmer tallying once for Hershey. Long Island native Jason Guerriero then finished the season with his first-ever shootout goal in the bottom of the ninth round giving the Sound Tigers the win.
