
Ducks clinch third place with 3-2 win over Griffins

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Chris Kunitz scored the deciding goal 5:40 into the third period as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks finished the regular season with a 3-2 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins Sunday at Cincinnati Gardens.
Igor Pohanka had a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who extended their home winning streak to seven games and clinched third place in the West Division.
Ilya Bryzgalov, making his first start since March 30, stopped 37 shots in the win for the Ducks, who will face Milwaukee in the opening round of the Calder Cup playoffs. The best-of-seven series begins Wednesday at the Bradley Center.
Jeff Panzer and Eric Himelfarb scored for the Griffins, who missed qualifying for a playoff berth for just the second time in nine seasons.
Drew MacIntrye stopped 27 shots in the loss.
The Ducks finished the regular season with a franchise record 44 wins.
