Penguins to meet Binghamton in opening round of playoffs

WILKES-BARRE, Pennsylvania -- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will meet the Binghamton Senators in the East Division Semifinals of the 2005 American Hockey League Calder Cup playoffs beginning on Friday, April 22 at 7:05 p.m. at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Game Two of the best-of-seven series will be played on Saturday, April 23 (7:05 p.m.).

The series then shifts to Wilkes-Barre for Games Three and Four on Monday, April 25 (7:05 p.m.) and Wednesday, April 27 (7:05 p.m.), respectively, at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. If necessary, a Game Five would be played in Binghamton on Friday, April 29 (7:05 p.m.) at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Game Six would be played in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, May 1 (5:05 p.m.) and a Game Seven would be played back in Binghamton on Monday, May 2 (7:05 p.m.).

The Penguins finished the regular season in fourth-place in the East Division with a 39-27-7-7 record (92 points), while the Senators finished first in the East Division with a 47-21-5-7 record (106 points).

During the regular season, Binghamton won the season series against the Penguins, winning seven of eight games. Overall, the Penguins have a lifetime record of 7-12-4 (w-l-t) against the Senators.

Tickets for the first three home games of the 2005 Calder Cup Playoffs (Games A-C) on now on sale and can be purchased at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations and telephone outlets.

Payment accepted at the Arena Box Office includes cash, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. The Wachovia Arena Box Office does not accept telephone orders or personal checks. There is no service fee for tickets purchased at the Wachovia Arena Box Office. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone by calling Ticketmaster at (570) 693-4100, (215) 336-2000 and (607) 722-7272 and on the internet at www.ticketmaster.com.

Single-game ticket prices for the Penguins' first three home games of the 2005 Calder Cup Playoffs are $33.00 (Yellow zone), $23.00 (Red zone), $19.50 (Gold zone) and $15.75 (Blue zone).

The Penguins would also like to let fans know that playoff ticket packages are still available. A playoff ticket package allows fans to keep the same seat for all home playoff games. Please note that ticket packages are available only at the Penguins Team Store in the Arena Hub Plaza or by calling the ticket office at 208-PENS (7367).
