Bridgeport Islanders News Release

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers overcame a two-goal, third-period deficit to salvage a point before falling 3-2 in overtime to the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Hartford Civic Center on Saturday night.

Hartford's Craig Weller scored the game-winner 3:11 into overtime; Ivan Baranka assisted the goal. Hartford won its second straight game to improve to 7-11-1-0 and Bridgeport is now 8-6-1-3 after its seventh overtime game this season.

Bridgeport's Eric Boguniecki tied the game with his third goal of the year with just 20 seconds remaining in regulation. Peter Ferraro and Joel Bouchard assisted the game-tying tally. Boguniecki scored while the Sound Tigers were shorthanded but had an extra attacker on the ice as goaltender Wade Dubielewicz was pulled in the waning moments.

The Sound Tigers overcame a two-goal, third-period Hartford lead for the second time this season. The Sound Tigers erased a 3-1 Hartford lead for a 6-3 win back on Oct. 13. Bridgeport has earned points in three of four contests with Hartford, although the Wolf Pack has won three of the games.

Hartford's Ryan Callahan scored his team-leading 14th goal on a breakaway 9:31 into the game for a 1-0 lead. Daniel Girardi and goaltender Steve Valiquette assisted the goal. In the second period, Bryce Lampman scored his first goal of the season on a one-timer assisted by Dwight Helminen and Jarkko Immonen for a 2-0 advantage.

Blake Comeau ended Valiquette's shutout bid and began the comeback effort with his sixth goal, unassisted, just 57 seconds into the third period.

Bridgeport's league-best penalty kill continued its dominance holding Hartford scoreless on seven chances. Hartford's penalty killers prevented Bridgeport from scoring on five man advantages.

The Sound Tigers return to the Arena at Harbor Yard to take on Albany, Sunday, Nov. 26 at 4 p.m. For schedule and ticket information, including group discount opportunities, visit soundtigers.com or call 334-4625.
