Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN - Kurt Steinhauer spanked a game-winning single to the warning track in left, giving the Saltdogs a 3-2 win over Winnipeg in 10 innings in front of 7,187 fans at Haymarket Park Saturday night.

For the second consecutive night the teams needed bonus baseball. This time it was Lincoln winning with an unearned run as Brandon Jones reached on a dropped line drive to lead off the 10th.

The Saltdogs got great pitching and defense as they evened up the three-game series.

Julio Medina pitched well in his Lincoln debut, tossing five innings while allowing two runs on six hits.

Jeremy Brewer and Jordan Stern combined for four scoreless frames of middle relief. Garrett Sherrill (2-1) pitched the 10th inning to earn the victory, starting a 1-6-3 double to end the inning after allowing a one-out single.

Phil Hawke launched a solo home run in the first inning, his 20th of the season, to tie the game at 1-1. Gavin Dickey ripped an RBI double down the left field line to even the score at 2-2 in the third.

The 7,187 fans at Haymarket Park was the sixth largest crowd in franchise history.

The teams meet again Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. for the rubber match and the Saltdogs regular season home finale. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
