SIOUX CITY, Iowa. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants stumbled in a 3-2 loss to the Sioux City Explorers on Saturday night, losing their second straight to their I-29 rivals. The loss coupled with wild-card leader Wichita's win eliminated the Pheasants from playoff contention.

The Pheasants were plagued by three errors, which cost them three unearned runs. A throw bounced by Pheasants shortstop Joe Anthonsen in the fourth inning could not be handled by first baseman Brandon Sing, allowing batter Kent Sakamoto to reach second base. Two batters later, T.J. Bohn singled Sakamoto home to tie the game at 1-1.

Sioux City pushed the lead to 3-1 in the sixth on two errors and a walk, without a batter recording an RBI. A muffed throw by Sing on a would-be double play hit by Mike Murphy allowed both runs to score.

In the Pheasants' seventh, Hartford resident Rob Lind singled to center for his first hit in his professional debut. He went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Joe Anthonsen's RBI single, shaving the Sioux City lead to 3-2. He finished the night 1-for-4 and played second base. Lind is a graduate of West Central High School and played collegiately for Georgia State.

Pheasants starter Barry Fowler (5-6) took the loss despite not allowing an earned run in six innings. He gave up just five hits, all singles, while walking four and striking out one.

Jason Jarvis (3-4) notched the win for Sioux City. He yielded two runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings. Eddie Delacruz pitched a scoreless eighth and Emiliano Fruto recorded his 12th save of the year in the ninth.

The Pheasants fell to 40-50 on the year.
