Solar Bears Slip Past Stingrays 2-1 with Late Goal

Orlando, FL - Forward Scott Campbell registered his 10 goal of the season, but the South Carolina Stingrays (30-13-1-3) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Orlando Solar Bears (26-16-1-2) at the Amway Center Thursday evening, closing a three-game road trip.

Campbell broke the scoreless tie 2:14 into the second period catching a pass from forward Peter Boyd and lifting a snapshot over the glove of Solar Bears goaltender Tyler Beskorowany (22 saves on 23 shots) from the left-wing circle. Just over two minutes later, Solar Bears forward ECHL-leading goal scorer Mickey Lang tied the contest beating netminder Jeff Jakaitis (L, 31 saves on 33 shots) under the blocker at 4:35 for his 27 goal of the season.

Solar Bears defenseman Blake Kessel buried the game-winning goal with 1:30 to play in the game finding room over the glove of Jakaitis from the right-wing circle. The Stingrays closed the contest 0-for-2 on the power play while the Solar Bears went 0-for-1.

The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday, February 16 for Kid's Day and Princess and Pirates with Blackbeard's Cove at 3:05 p.m. against the Florida Everblades! All kid's tickets are $5! Stay after the game for a postgame autograph session with the entire team!
