Grizzlies Hold off Eagles with 3-2 Shootout Win on Road

Loveland, Colorado - The Utah Grizzlies (23-17-3-5) withstood a late Colorado rally and defeated the Eagles (24-14-4-5) 3-2 in a shootout Wednesday night at Budweiser Events Center.
Utah goaltender Aaron Dell (14-4-0-2) stopped 30 of 32 shots in regulation and all three Eagles chances in the shootout as all three Utah skaters scored in Mathieu Aubin, Jamie MacQueen and David Vallorani to finally give the Grizzlies the win.
The Grizzlies improved to 16-3-2-3 in their last 24 games and to 5-1-0-1 through the first seven games of their season-long nine-game road trip.
Leading 2-0 with 1:35 left, the Eagles hacked in two loose pucks in a 45 second span to rally down 2-0 and tie the contest with 50 seconds left as the Grizzlies looked to coast to the win.
Utah made it 1-0 14:40 into the first period as Jamie MacQueen scored his 17th goal of the year from the right circle 50 seconds into their first power-play as David Vallorani and Phil Mangan picked up assists.
In the second, Dell made some big saves and Utah killed two big penalties to hold the 1-0 lead going down the stretch. Utah made it 2-0 with 3:34 left in the second as David Vallorani scored his team leading 18th goal of the year hammering in a rebound on a Channing Boe shot as Danick Paquette led the puck into Colorado territory.
Aaron Dell made 10 saves as the Grizzlies killed two penalties in the third before Colorado's late uprising that brought the sellout crowd of 5,289 to their feet.
Utah is next in action Friday in Colorado to continue their nine-game road trip. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Grizzlies return home Monday, February 17 for a 1:35 p.m. start for Maverik Monday on President's Day. Fans can get six tickets for $30 with a receipt from Maverik.
Wednesday, February 19 is the next Wild $2 Wednesday with $2 hot dogs, $2 fries, $2 soft drinks, $2 draft beers and $5 student tickets against Idaho at 7 p.m.
