Solar Bears Sign Forward Brian Christie

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, have announced the signing of rookie forward Brian Christie.

Christie, 23, joins the Solar Bears after wrapping up a four-year collegiate career with Merrimack College, where the forward played in a career-high 39 games this season, tallying 24 points (7g-17a) and 16 penalty minutes while serving as team captain. In 134 career games for the Warriors, Christie logged 76 points (26g-50a) and 52 penalty minutes.

Prior to playing at Merrimack, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound pivot played two seasons of junior hockey with the Topeka Roadrunners of the North American Hockey League. During his time with the Roadrunners, the West Chester, Pa., native accumulated 103 points (42g-61a) and 140 penalty minutes in 117 games.

The Solar Bears continue their fourth season in the ECHL, presented by Auto Justice Attorney Michael T. Gibson, P.A., when they host the Adirondack Thunder for the first time at the Amway Center on Thursday, Mar. 17 at 7:00 p.m.
