Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, announced that Jets prospect Cody Sol has been recalled to the American Hockey League to the St. John's IceCaps.
Sol, 22, has appeared in all 35 games with the Reign this season with seven points (4g, 3a) recorded, 66 penalty minutes, and a +1 rating. This is the Woodstock, Ontario native's first callup of the 2013-14 season.
Last year Sol split his rookie season between the Colorado Eagles and St. John's IceCaps with 25 games played with Colorado, 26 with St. John's. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound blueliner registered eight points (5g, 3a) with Colorado and four points (1g, 3a) with St. John's.
Sol made his pro debut in the 2009-10 season with the Chicago Wolves for one game. He spent five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Saginaw and Kitchener. In 255 major junior games, Sol posted 77 points (27g, 50a), 577 penalty minutes, and a plus-minus rating of +50.
Sol was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fifth round, 125th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
