Snappers Walk Off Winners

On a historic night in Snappers' history Beloit did not disappoint, winning 8-7 over the Lansing Lugnuts. Hearing the news that the Snappers and Twins signed an agreement that will keep the two teams together through the 2010 season, Beloit was able to win the final game of a four game series with the Lugnuts, 8-7.

Lansing jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning. The Lugnuts scored their three runs off of two hits.

The Snappers bounced back with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the second, highlighted by a Steve Singleton RBI single to second. The three run outburst from the Snappers tied the game up at 3-3.

Lansing and the Snappers would both score two more runs a piece in the third inning. An RBI single from Eli Tintor and an RBI double from Chris Parmelee allowed the Snappers to tie the game again at 5-5.

After Lansing scored one run in the top of the fifth inning, the Snappers took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. RBI's from Chris Parmelee and Danny Berg gave the Snappers their first lead of the game, 7-6.

The Lugnuts tied the game up at 7-7 in the top of the eighth inning on a Travis Snider home run.

The game the entered the bottom of the ninth inning tied at 7-7. Chris Parmelee led off with a walk and advanced to second after Joe Benson was hit by a pitch. Danny Berg then played hero for the Snappers as he delivered the game winning single to right-center field, giving the Snappers the 8-7 victory.

Reliever Jose Lugo picked up the win going two innings and allowing only one run. Lugo's win was his fourth of the season.

Notes: The Snappers announced their extension with the Minnesota Twins during a ceremony before the top of the third inning with Beloit Professional Baseball Association, Inc. Chairman Dennis Conerton and Minnesota Twins Director of Minor League Operations Jim Rantz. The extension will last through the 2010 season.
