Lansing Lugnuts News Release
Beloit, Wis. - The Beloit Snappers used 12 hits and five Lansing Lugnut errors to take an 8-7 walk-off win at Pohlman Field Tuesday night in the finale of the four game series. The win earned Beloit a series split.
With runners at first and second in the bottom of the ninth, Danny Berg ripped his second RBI single of the night. This one plated Chris Parmelee and secured the walk-off win for Beloit.
The Lugnuts took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning when Chris Emanuele blasted his fifth homer of the year, a three-run shot over the left field wall.
Beloit was able to tie the game up in their half of the frame by taking advantage of two Lansing errors. After Parmelle reached on an error by shortstop Raul Barron, Joe Benson chopped an infield single just behind the mound. Lugnut hurler Graham Godfrey fielded the ball but threw wildly to first base, which allowed the runners to move to second and third.
Godfrey then unleashed a wild pitch to plate Parmelee to make it 3-1. Garrett Olson's RBI groundout and Steve Singleton's RBI single knotted the game at 3-3.
Lansing put two more on the board in the next frame, only to see the lead evaporate again in the Beloit half of the inning.
Travis Snider laced a double into right field that plated Scott Campbell to push the Lugnuts ahead 4-3. Snider would score on Matt Liuzza's single to center field that made it 5-3.
Beloit answered right back as Lansing committed three more errors in the inning. Wilson Ramos stood at first base for the Snappers when Eli Tintor smacked a single into right field. Snider then bobbled the ball in right and committed a throwing error into second base that brought home Ramos to cut the lead to 5-4. Parmelee followed that with a double to left-center to score Tintor and tie it at 5-5.
Snider atoned for the errors in the fifth by blasting a solo homer to right field to put Lansing back up 6-5.
The Snappers took their first lead of the night in the seventh inning at 7-6. Parmelee delivered his second RBI double of the night to tie the game and Danny Berg singled to bring Parmelee home to put Beloit ahead.
The lead would not last long though, as Snider drilled his second homer of the night, another solo shot to right-center that made it 7-7. It was his fourth homer in his last three games.
Lansing (63-57, 28-23) will take Wednesday off before returning home to Oldsmobile Park Thursday night to take on the Fort Wayne Wizards for two days. It will be the final Molson Thirsty Thursday of the year, with beer and soda specials on-sale for $2. Thursday is also Corona Buffett Beach Party Night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
