Dayton Dragons News Release

Burlington, IA - The Dayton Dragons wrapped up the eight day Iowa portion of the teams current 11 day 10 game road trip with the fourth and final game of a series with the Burlington Bees at Community Field. In the previous three games of the series the Dragons scored the first runs of the game and had lost. Tuesday night the Bees jumped out in front 3-0 but could not hold the lead as the Dragons came back to win 5-3.

Daniel Guerrero (WP, 3-3) got the start for the Dragons and hoped for better results in his second start on the current road trip. Guerrero was tagged for the loss at Quad Cities on August 8th. Burlington got to the right hander in the bottom of the first inning on a three run homer from Brady Everett that hugged the line in left and got inside the foul pole for a 3-0 Bees lead.

Dayton chipped away against Burlington starter Jason Godin (LP, 4-4) with single runs in the second and third to pull within one run at 3-2. Drew Stubbs picked up a one out single in the third and scored all the way from first base on Carson Kainer's single to right center. The hit extended Kainer's hitting streak to a season high eight games. In the third Dayton pulled within one run on a Stubbs single to left with two down that scored Keltavious Jones from third and look like it would score Juan Francisco from second. However, Logan Parker trying to go first to third on the play was tagged out at third before Francisco could score the second and tying run and it remained a 3-2 Bees lead.

Godin's luck and the Burlington lead ran out in the top of the fourth inning as the Dragons strung together a two out rally scoring a pair of runs to take a 4-3 lead. With two down, Eddy Rodriguez started the rally with a walk and moved to second base on Zack Cozart's single to right. Jones picked up the big blow of the inning with a two run triple off the wall in deep right field. Dayton added on more run off Godin in the fifth before chasing the right hander after 4.2 innings of work. Kainer picked up his second RBI of the night, getting the single to center off Aaron Hartsock (ND) who entered the game and before throwing a pitch to Kainer, moved Stubbs from first to second on an errant pick off throw to first.

Guerrero, who struck out eight in his last start at Quad Cities on August 8th, fanned six Bees on the night, striking out the side in the sixth, his final inning of work. He scattered ten hits on the night and shutout Burlington over his final 5.0 innings on the night.

Misael DeJesus (ND) kept Burlington off the board with 2.0 scoreless in the seventh and eighth inning, turning the ball over to Ramon Geronimo (SV, 11) who blanked the Bees in the ninth for his 11 th save.

After an off day on Wednesday, the Dragons and Great Lakes Loons open a quick two game series on Thursday night from the Dow Diamond in Midland, Michigan with a 7:05 PM first pitch. 1410 ESPN Radio will carry the game live beginning with the Dragons Pre Game Show at 6:30 PM. All Dragons games in 2007 are also streamed live on the internet at www.daytondragons.com via All In Broadcasting. LHP Travis Webb (6-5, 3.84 ERA) is the scheduled starter for the Dragons. The Loons are slated to throw RHP Kyle Smit (0-1, 10.12 ERA).
