Snappers lose nail biter in late innings to TinCaps

BELOIT, WI - In a warm, sunny evening, the Beloit Snappers fell to the Fort Wayne TinCaps by a final score of 4-1. The game was tied at 1 each in the ninth inning, but unfortunately, Fort Wayne got 3 runs in the ninth to take the lead and the win.

Right-handed pitcher, Reid Birlingmair, got the start tonight and was terrific on the mound tonight. Birlingmair threw three and one-third innings giving up just one run, while striking out 2 to earn a no-decision on the evening.

Bryce Nightengale followed Birlingmair and was terrific out of the pen throwing four and two- third innings, giving up no runs and striking out 5 to just 2 walks.

With Nightengale holding the TinCaps bats at bay, the Snappers struck for their first run of the ballgame in the sixth inning. Beloit would get a leadoff triple from Noah Vaughan to begin the inning and then, Marcos Brito would hit a sacrifice fly to knock in Vaughan tying the game.

The game would stay tied until the ninth inning when the TinCaps would get 3 runs to ultimately take the lead and the game.

The Beloit Snappers will finish up the series with the Fort Wayne TinCaps tomorrow at 6:30. Bryce Conley is slated to get the start tomorrow for the Snappers in the last game of this homestand.
