Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Snappers kept their late inning heroics going with three runs in the top of the ninth to comeback and defeat the Clinton LumberKings 6-5. Spencer Steedley dodged a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the ninth to pick the save and get Beloit off on the right foot in the four-game series.

Ben Revere drove in the first run of the game for the Snappers with an RBI-ground out to second in the third inning. Revere's ground out drove home Greg Yersich, who earlier doubled, from third base. Yersich's run put the Snaps ahead 1-0 after two and a half.

The LumberKings would then score the next four runs of the game off of Beloit's Michael Tarsi and take a 4-1 lead into the seventh inning.

The two teams exchanged runs in the seventh and the Snappers headed into the eighth inning down by a score of 5-2.

Ben Revere came up with another big hit for the Snappers, cracking an RBI-single to center field, scoring Ramon Santana from second base. Ben's RBI made it a 5-3 game after seven and a half.

Clinton failed to score in the bottom frame and the game remained 5-3 heading into the top of the ninth inning.

The defending Midwest League Western Division champs then found themselves with the lead with three runs off three hits and one big Clinton error.

With two outs and one run already in, Greg Yersich reached safely on an error from Clinton third baseman Jonathan Greene. Greene's error not only allowed Yersich to reach first base, but it also allowed Mark Dolenc and Steve Singleton to score, giving the Snaps a 6-5 lead.

Spencer Steedley got out of a one-out, bases loaded situation to pick up the save for the Snappers. Steedley's magic allowed Beloit to sneak away with a 6-5 victory.

Ben Revere and Garrett Olson each had three hits for the Snaps who improved to 23-20 on the season. Clinton fell to 29-11.
