Beloit's bats broke out for 10 hits on Sunday, seven of which came in a five-run sixth inning that propelled the Snappers to a 6-1 victory over Cedar Rapids. Bryce Conley (1-3, 3.46 ERA) and the Beloit bullpen combined to allow just one run on four hits to the Kernels.

The Snappers struck first in the second inning when JJ Schwarz led off with a solo shot to center field. Cedar Rapids, however, quickly answered in the third on a bomb from Twins No. 15 prospect Gilberto Celestino, knotting the game at 1-1.

That was the only damage done to the Snappers' starter Conley, who, despite dealing with command issues throughout his outing, managed to work out of trouble several times. Conley walked three, struck out three and hit a batter, which drove up his pitch count early and led to his exit after just four innings. He allowed only a run on two hits, however, keeping the Snappers in the game until the lineup awakened in the sixth.

Kernels starter Andrew Cabezas (1-5, 5.57 ERA) was solid through five innings, but ran into a wall in the sixth. Schwarz and Anthony Churlin started the frame with back-to-back singles, setting the stage for John Jones's go-ahead RBI single. Logan Farrar followed with another RBI single; Cobie Vance then loaded the bases with an infield hit. Joseph Pena's two-run single extended Beloit's lead to 4-1 before Lester Madden tacked on one more with an RBI single of his own. Cabezas ended up being charged with five runs on six hits over 5+ innings of work.

The Snappers' bullpen shut down Cedar Rapids from there. Michael Danielak tossed two scoreless innings while striking out three to earn the win. Ty Damron and Charlie Cerny combined for three no-hit frames to close out the Kernels.

Beloit put on an impressive offensive display on Sunday. Eight of the nine starters in the lineup recorded at least one hit, including two-hit performances from Pena and Schwarz. Five of the nine starters- Pena, Madden, Schwarz, Jones and Farrar- had at least one RBI.

The Snappers get the day off tomorrow before the homestand continues with a three-game set against Burlington. Joe DeMers (0-1, 6.75 ERA) will make his second start for Beloit since coming off the injured list while the Bees will counter with Hector Yan (0-2, 4.63 ERA).

The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. For more ticket information, contact the Snappers office at (608) 362- 2272 or visit our website, www.snappersbaseball.com.
