Beloit Sky Carp News Release

After falling behind 4-0 early, the Snappers battled their way back to claim game one of a four-game set with the Clinton LumberKings Tuesday night, 7-5. Beloit's Spencer Steedley picked up the win for the Snaps, pitching 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The LumberKings got on the board quick with four runs in the top of the third inning. Three of those four runs came on a Tim Smith, three-run homer to right field. Smith's homer, off starter Santos Arias, gave Clinton a 4-0 lead after two and a half.

Deibinson Romero then put Beloit on the board with a two-run home run to left in the bottom of the fourth inning. Romero's blast plated Estarlin De Los Santos, who earlier singled, and drew the Snaps to within two runs, 4-2.

The Snappers then tied the game at 4-4 behind the bat and legs of Ben Revere. With one out, Revere laced an RBI-triple to right-center field, scoring Chris Cates from first base. He then raced home on a wild pitch from Clinton's Kennil Gomez one batter later. Ben's RBI and run tied the game up at 4-4 after five innings.

After the LumberKings took the lead in the top of the sixth inning with one run, Allan de San Miguel gave Beloit the lead right back with a two-run single to left. Allan's singled allowed Rene Leveret and Mark Dolenc to score, giving the Snappers a 6-5 lead.

Beloit would score one more in the bottom of the seventh inning on their way to a 7-5 victory Tuesday night.

Deibinson Romero led the way for the Snaps, going 3 for 4 with two runs, two RBIs and his second home run of the season.

Estarlin De Los Santos and Ozzie Lewis each had two hits for the Snappers who improved to 9-4 in the second half.
