Hawks Fall In Series Opener

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release


South Bend, IN - The South Bend Silver Hawks fall tonight to the Lansing Lugnuts by the score of 9-6. South Bend currently has a record of 1-12 against Lansing this season.

The Lugnuts started the scoring right away with 3 runs in the 1st. The game was 4-0 in the 3rd when South Bend mounted a comeback. With the score 4-2, Derrick Walker hit a 2 run homerun to tie the game. Lansing answered back in the 5th with 3 runs and never looked back.

Cristian Beltre (6-6) had a rough night on the mound. Beltre gave up 7 runs and 10 hits in 5 innings of work.

Mike Mee and Derrick Walker led the Silver Hawks attack tonight. The duo had 2 hits and 2 RBI's apiece.

The Silver Hawks and Lugnuts will play game 2 of their series on Wednesday. Game time is slated for 7:30 PM.
