Smokies Announce Series Of Roster Moves Tuesday

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce this afternoon that RHP Oswaldo Martinez added to the team's active roster in advance of tonight's game with the Montgomery Biscuits. In related roster moves, Esmailin Caridad and Rafael Dolis have been placed on the team's disabled list.

The Smokies roster currently sits at 23 active players.

Martinez, 22, joins the Smokies from the High-A Daytona Cubs. While in Daytona, the reliever was 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 11 appearances. Martinez allowed three earned runs on 11 hits and three walks, while striking out 20. The San Luis Potosi, Mexico native was signed the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent in 2006.

Caridad, 27, heads to the DL after appearing in five games with the Smokies in 2011. He started the season with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, before being sent to Tennessee on June 23rd. With the Smokies, Caridad had no record with a 7.00 ERA. He was signed by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent in 2007 and is currently on the Cubs' 40-man roster.

Dolis, 23, heads to the DL with a 4-5 record and nine saves on the season for Tennessee. The hard-throwing righty is currently on the Cubs' 40-man roster and was signed by Chicago as a non-drafted free agent in 2004.
