MARIETTA, GA - Chattanooga Lookouts left-fielder Alfredo Silverio has been named the Topps Player of the Month for June as voted on by the Southern League field managers. Silverio has been consistently hitting strong all season and snagged Hitter of the Week honors for the week of June 13-19. In 2011 he leads the league with 12 triples, has the second most total bases (174) and currently ranks third in the league in slugging percentage with .569 as well as fourth in the league in RBI and runs with 57 and 54, respectively.

From June 13-19, he dominated the league, leading in seven categories (.500 batting average, 13 hits, 9 extra-base-hits, 27 total bases, 6 doubles, 1.038 slugging percentage, and 1.520 on-base plus slugging percentage) and hitting second best in three more (2 homeruns, 7 RBI, .481 on-base-percentage). His astonishing thirteen hits in six games that week, with nine of those being extra-base hits, demonstrated the ability Silverio has been attempting to showcase since April. In June, Silverio led the league in extra-base hits (21) and slugging percentage (.681). He hammered 6 homeruns and 22 RBI with a .354 batting average.

So far, in the second half, Chattanooga leads the North Division with a .667 winning percentage. The Lookouts won seventeen out of twenty-six games in June, and have won eight out of twelve since the All-Star break. The Lookouts have the fifth-best overall record in the league with 43-39 (.524 winning percentage). Silverio leads the Lookouts in runs (54), hits (95), and RBI (57).

A native of La Romana, Dominican Republic, the right-handed batter was signed by the Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent on Nov. 13, 2003. In 2007, Silverio was selected as a Gulf Coast League Post-Season All-Star.
