Madden and Padilla to New Orleans

ZEBULON, N.C. - The Florida Marlins have announced a series of transactions that affects their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns prior to tonight's game against the Carolina Mudcats at Five County Stadium.

Right handed pitcher Corey Madden and outfielder Jorge Padilla have been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. Madden in 23 relief appearances is 2-1 for the Suns with a 2.85 ERA. Padilla is hitting .272 this season with four home runs and 17 runs batted in during 53 games of action for the Suns.

In corresponding moves, outfielder Jeremy Synan and relief pitcher Chris Squires have been transferred from High-A Jupiter to the Suns. Synan, a Marlins 42nd round draft pick in 2008 out of N.C. State was batting .197 for the Hammerheaads with two homers and 19 RBI. Squires, a Marlins 37th round draft pick in 2010 out of Indiana Univ. has seen time in Greensboro, Jamestown, and Jupiter this season, with a combined record of 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances.

The Suns roster now stands at 24, and a revised roster is attached.

Yesterday's first game of the Jacksonville Suns and Carolina Mudcats series was suspended due to the Southern League curfew rule going into the eleventh inning with the game tied 5-5 early Tuesday morning.

The game will be resumed on Tuesday night at 6:15 p.m. with the Suns coming to the plate in the top of the eleventh in a 5-5 tie. Tuesday's second game of the series will be played as scheduled at 7:15 p.m. unless the first game goes late.

In the second game, left-handed pitcher and former Mudcat Graham Taylor (2-3, 3.95 ERA) will pitch for the Suns against Carolina's right-hander Brandon Hynick (0-1, 8.10 ERA). Tuesday's first pitch is set for 7:15 p.m., and fans can listen to the game beginning at 7:00 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on Jacksonville's WFXJ AM 930 the Fox and www.jaxsuns.com.
