Greensboro Swarm News Release
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - The College Park Skyhawks (8-12) defeated the Greensboro Swarm (6-14), 99-88 on "Faith and Family Night" at Gateway Center Arena at College Park.
The Swarm jumped to an early lead behind 10-for-19 shooting in the opening quarter, and took a 26-23 lead into the second period.
College Park regained the lead with an 8-2 run to open the second quarter, and finished the second period outscoring the Swarm, 33-12. That marked the largest positive point-differential in any quarter this regular season for the Skyhawks, as well as the fewest points allowed in any quarter.
Justin Tillman recorded his team-leading 16th double-double of the season by midway through the third quarter with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The center from VCU finished with 24 points (11-17 FG, .647 FG%) and 12 rebounds in 28 minutes on the night.
The Skyhawks opened the fourth quarter with three-point field goals from Armoni Brooks (10 points), Langston Galloway (28 points, a career high), and Sharife Cooper (seven points).
College Park never let up from then on, extending their lead to 21 points in the fourth quarter. The Swarm's 88 points are the fewest allowed by the Skyhawks all season.
"Any time you can hold a team under 90 points, especially in this league, is really impressive" said Skyhawks Head Coach Steve Gansey. "It felt great to get a win, and we have to continue to build off of our win because we play them again Sunday."
The Skyhawks and Swarm will conclude their two-game set on Sunday when the Skyhawks celebrate "University of West Georgia Day" at the Gateway Center Arena at College Park. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. ET and the game can be viewed on Peachtree TV.
