
Spurs Withstand Late Rally, Defeat Stars

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars cut an 11-point fourth quarter deficit down to one with 3:01 left to play, but the Austin Spurs were able to hold on to their slim lead down the stretch, on their way to a 136-126 victory on Friday night in Cedar Park, Texas.
The Spurs led 98-88 to begin the final quarter when Carsen Edwards and Xavier Sneed caught fire for the Stars. Edwards scored 13 of his game-high 29 points in the period, while Sneed scored 11 of the Stars first 15 points in the final frame and finished the night with 23 points and four steals.
Devontae Cacok led the way for the Spurs with 27 points (12-of-14 FG) and 13 rebounds including a rim-rocking alley-oop with 2:34 left that gave the Spurs a 121-118 lead and shifted the momentum back to the home squad.
Jared Wilson-Frame knocked down six three-pointers, tying a career-high. Frame finished the night with 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Gerard Tarin came off the bench with 16 points and nine rebounds for the Stars.
Damyean Dotson added 21 points and Aric Holman contributed 18 points for a Spurs starting unit that saw all five players reach double-digit scoring totals for the night.
Jalen Morris led the Spurs second until with 21 points while Jayvon Graves, Kaleb Johnson and Jordan Murphy each added eight points.
The two teams will be back at it tomorrow night for the second game of their back-to-back set. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. from the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park. The game will stream on NBAGLeague.com.
