Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Ryan Shealy's two-run double in the fifth inning broke a tie game and held up for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox as they defeated the Portland Beavers 4-3 Wednesday night at PGE Park.

The Sky Sox (21-32), who are 5-1 at PGE Park this season, twice tied the game after falling down by a run and went up for good when Shealy's double plated Josh Wilson and Dan Conway.

Jon Asahina (2-3) gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings to get the win and combined with three Sky Sox relievers to strike out 13 batters on the night. Nate Field picked up his ninth save with a scoreless ninth.

Ben Johnson and Justin Leone hit solo home runs for the Beavers (28-24), who have lost six of their last seven games.

Roger Deago (0-1), who was transferred to Portland from Class AA Mobile for Wednesday's start, gave up four runs (3 earned) on four hits in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss in his season debut with the Beavers.

Johnson's solo home run gave the Beavers the lead in the second. After the Sky Sox tied it in the top of the third with an unearned run, Paul McAnulty returned Portland's lead in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single that scored Terrmel Sledge.

Bo Hart knotted the game with a solo homer off Deago to lead off the Colorado Springs fourth.

The Beavers again play host to the Sky Sox at PGE Park Thursday at 7:05 p.m.

NOTES: The Sky Sox lost two players to injury in the game: Omar Quintanilla left after colliding with right fielder Jeff Baker while chasing down a fly ball in the second; Baker left an inning later after running out a ground ball ... the San Diego Padres purchased the contract of Portland pitcher Brian Sikorski on Wednesday, with Deago taking his spot on the Beavers' roster.
