Iowa Chops News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL) have recalled Forward Chris Conner from their American Hockey League affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa.
Originally signed by the Iowa Stars on March 15th, 2006, to an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO) at the end of a successful four-year career at Michigan Tech University, Conner then signed a two-year Free Agent contract with the Dallas Stars on July 13th, 2006. In 23 games with the Iowa Stars this season, the 5-8, 175-pound Forward has notched five goals, six assists and 14 penalty minutes: 23(5/6/11)14.
In 15 regular season games with Iowa last year, he posted two goals and three assists: 15(2/3/5). He also had one goal and one assist in seven Calder Cup Playoff games last season. The Ypsilanti, Michigan-native left Michigan Tech with 69 career goals and 60 assists. Fifteen of his 69 goals came shorthanded, a MTU school record.
This is his first-ever recall to the National Hockey League. Dallas hosts the Edmonton Oilers tonight on FSN at 7:30 PM. He did appear in one pre-season game with Dallas on September 19th in Colorado and was held scoreless.
At 5-8, Conner is eight inches shorter than 6-4 Eric Lindros, Dallas' tallest player.
