OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has acquired forward Brian Gibbons from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for minor league defenceman Patrick Sieloff. Gibbons will join Ottawa's roster and will be available to the team for Tuesday's game in Washington.
The 30-year-old Gibbons has played 44 games for Anaheim this season, scoring two goals and adding three assists. The 5-8, 175-pound native of Braintree, Mass., set career highs in goals (12), assists (14) and points (26) in 59 games with the New Jersey Devils last season.
An undrafted free agent, Gibbons was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Penguins after a four-year collegiate career at Boston College. He has 53 points (19 goals, 34 assists) in 169 career NHL games with the Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, Devils and Ducks.
Sieloff played 103 games for Belleville scoring two goals and 17 assists. He is the franchise's all-time leading in penalty minutes with 181.
Internationally, Gibbons represented the United States at the 2018 World Hockey Championship, playing in seven games on the bronze medal winning American team.
