
Anaheim Ducks Recall Pair, Assign Pair

SAN DIEGO - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Korbinian Holzer and goaltender Angus Redmond from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, Anaheim has reassigned center Sam Steel and defenseman Andy Welinski to San Diego.
Holzer, 31 (2/16/88), has collected 4-16=20 points with 94 penalty minutes (PIM) in 137 career NHL games with Anaheim and Toronto. Acquired from the Maple Leafs in exchange for Eric Brewer and a fifth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft on Mar. 2, 2015, Holzer has one assist (0-1=1) in two games with the Ducks this season. The 6-3, 218-pound defenseman earned 2-3=5 points with a +7 rating in 12 AHL games with the Gulls prior to his recall.
Redmond, 23 (10/3/95), posted a 2.85 goals-against average (GAA) and .909 save percentage (SV%) in two games with the Gulls this season. Redmond has also appeared in 17 ECHL games with Reading and South Carolina, going 5-5-6 with a .902 SV%. The 6-2, 197-pound goaltender was signed by Anaheim as a free agent on Mar. 31, 2017.
Steel, 21 (2/3/98), earned 1-2=3 points in 14 games with the Ducks this season. Selected by Anaheim in the first round (30th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Steel owns 15-17=32 points in 43 games with San Diego in 2018-19. The 5-11, 186-pound center currently ranks second among Gulls rookies in points, goals and assists.
Welinski, 25 (4/27/93), recorded two assists (0-2=2) with eight PIM in 19 games with the Ducks this season. Selected in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, the 6-1, 201-pound defenseman owns 6-7=13 points with a +4 rating in 18 AHL games with San Diego in 2018-19. Welinski returns to the Gulls pacing team defensemen in goals and ranking tied for third in points.
