STAT OF THE NIGHT: Shorebirds pitching has not allowed a first inning run in six straight games. The last time an opponent scored in the first was on July 5. The Shorebirds have kept their opponent scoreless in the first in nine of 11 games in July.

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds narrowly escaped with a 4-3 win in game one as they gear up for game two against the Asheville Tourists. Tim Berry hurled a five-inning gem to earn his second consecutive win. The Shorebirds offense scored three runs on four hits in the fifth inning to get past the Tourists.

9 STRAIGHT SAVES: Shorebirds closer David Walters has saved nine consecutive save opportunities including last night. He leads the SAL with 21 saves and ranks eighth in all of Minor League Baseball. Walters has not allowed earned runs in ten of his last eleven appearances.

NOWAK A SOURCE OF POWER: Jeremy Nowak has 16 hits in his first 17 games with the Shorebirds. Half of his hits have gone for extra bases (five doubles, one triple, two home runs). Nowak has nine RBIs in his first three weeks with the club.

ABOVE .500 AT HOME: With the win last night, the Shorebirds are now 22-21 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium this season. The Shorebirds are 6-4 in their last ten home games. The Shorebirds went just 31-40 at home last season.

EIGHT-GAMER FOR JOE: Shorebirds catcher Joe Oliveira extended his hit streak to eight games with a 1-for-3 performance last night. He is 9-for-27 (.333) during the streak.

SIX STRAIGHT: The Shorebirds have made at least one error in six straight games. The last time they went without an error was on July 5 against Hickory. The 'Birds have committed 113 errors, fourth most in the SAL.

BACK-TO-BACK TO OPEN: The Shorebirds have not opened a series with back-to-back wins since the West Virginia series between June 5 and June 7.

PRODUCTION AT TOP: The Shorebirds leadoff hitters have struggled of late . They are 2-for-21 (.095) at the plate in the last six. Michael Rooney went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts yesterday. The leadoff spot is 4-for-39 (.102) in the month of July.

WHAT'S GONE: The Shorebirds have lost a lot out of their lineup this season. A total of 51 doubles, 25 home runs, 268 hits, 154 RBIs, 412 total bases and 155 runs scored are no longer with the team. From a pitching standpoint, the Shorebirds also lost six wins, 84.1 innings and 97 strikeouts.
