STAT OF THE DAY: Brenden Webb and Glynn Davis have each reached base in 12 consecutive games played. The longest active streak in the SAL belongs to T.J. Rivera of Savannah, who has reached base in 17 straight games.
PREVIEW: After two days off (postponement on Sunday, scheduled off day on Monday) the Shorebirds return to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium to being a seven-game homestand. The Shorebirds lost all three games during the recent swing to Greensboro. They are in third place in the Northern Division, three games back of the Grasshoppers. The Shorebirds eight losses have come by a total of 12 runs (six one run losses).
MIND-BOGGLING MOUND MATCHUP: Dylan Bundy (4th overall in 2011) will be matched up against Matt Barnes (19th overall in 2011) in game one. Bundy is the top prospect in the Orioles organization while Barnes is the eighth best prospect in the Sox system according to Baseball America. In 25 combined inning, the two have allowed six hits (all by Barnes) and no runs. They have combined for 40 strikeouts and just three walks. Bundy has faced just one batter over the minimum in nine innings while Barnes has faced just nine batters over the minimum in 16 innings.
7-GAMER FOR RUETTIGER: John Ruettiger has hit safely in seven straight games (12-32, .375) and has reached base in nine straight games. Ruettiger ranks 12th in the league in batting average (.343), tied for fourth in the SAL in hits (23), tied for fifth in the league in runs scored (16) and tied for seventh in stolen bases (7).
ONE OF TWO TEAMS: The Shorebirds are one of two teams in the SAL (Asheville) to have six players with nine or more RBIs (B. Webb - 13, J. Ruettiger - 10, N. Delmonico - 9, G. Lino - 9, S. Starr 9, C. Narron - 9).
FIRST MEETING WITH GREENVILLE SINCE...: Tonight marks the first meeting with the Greenville Drive (Red Sox) since the opening series in 2010 (April 8-11). This series is the first between the two teams at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium since the 2008 season (July 7-10, Shorebirds won series 3-1).
3RD HIGHEST GO/AO: The Shorebirds have the third highest staff GO/AO (1.95) in the SAL. Greensboro has the highest GO/AO at 2.12. Only one active pitcher gives up more air outs than ground outs (P. Bridwell, 0.63).
3-1 IN OPENERS: The Shorebirds are 3-1 in series openers this season. They won three straight until losing the opener against Greensboro on April 19.
