Reymond Nunez' two-run single broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the second inning, and pitching dominated after that as the Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Lexington Legends 4-1 Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Delino DeShields Jr. led off with a walk, stole second and scored on a single by Alex Todd.

Charleston answered with three runs in the second inning. Tyler Austin was safe at first on a throwing error by third baseman Matt Duffy. Gary Sanchez followed with a single, sending Austin to second. A single by Angelo Gumbs loaded the bases. A walk to Cito Culver forced in a run, and Nunez followed with a single to right field, scoring Sanchez and Gumbs and giving the RiverDogs a 3-1 lead.

Charleston scored its final run in the top of the third on back-to-back doubles by Sanchez and Gumbs.

RiverDogs' starter Caleb Cotham (2-0) got the win. He pitched five innings, allowed four hits, one run, walked one and struck out two. Lexington starter Nick Tropeano (1-1), who worked two innings, took the loss.

The two teams meet again Wednesday morning in an Education Day game at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Game time is 10:05 a.m.

The Houston Astros, parent club of the Legends, announced roster moves before the game. Infielder John Hinson and outfielder Chris Epps joined the Legends from extended spring training. Infielder Tyler Burnett was released, and pitcher Scott Zuloaga was placed on the inactive list.
