Hickory Crawdads News Release

HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 6-0, before 1,037 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Grasshoppers had a night to remember, tossing a no-hitter against the 'Dads.

The Grasshoppers (13-5) received the first six scoreless frames from RHP Jose Fernandez (W, 2-0), who struck out eight and only walked two. LHP Greg Nappo then dealt the next two innings, before RHP Kevin Cravey closed the no-hitter with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.

Greensboro took the lead in the top of the second inning against RHP Jerad Eickhoff (L, 2-2) and the 'Dads (12-6). 1B Aaron Senne led off in a powerful way, driving a solo homer over the right field wall for the 1-0 lead.

The Grasshoppers added one more in the top of the third on an RBI fielder's choice by 3B Josh Adams, before doubling the lead with a pair in the top of the sixth. With runners at second and third and two down in the frame, LF Ryan Goetz chopped a two-run single up the middle, making it 4-0.

Greensboro added two more insurance tallies in the top of the ninth against LHP Greg Williams. With runners at second and third and one away, Adams drove in one with an RBI ground out to the mound. Senne then struck with an RBI single to right field, capping the lead at 6-0.

With one down in the bottom of the ninth, Crawdads 2B Rougned Odor ripped a low fly ball to right field, but RF James Wooster made a diving catch to keep the no-hitter alive. Cravey then induced a pop out to left field, wrapping up the 6-0 no-hit win for the Grasshoppers.
