Cuevas Homers Twice for GreenJackets

AUGUSTA, Ga. (April 24, 2012) -- Augusta third baseman Jose Cuevas homer twice as the GreenJackets defeated the Kannapolis Intimidators, 9-4, on Tuesday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The Intimidators dropped their seventh straight, falling to 6-12 on the season while Augusta improved to 8-9.

The GreenJackets chased Intimidators starter Daniel Webb from the game in the third inning after he allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits. Webb (0-3) walked two batters and struck out three over 2 and 2/3 innings in a losing effort. Jefferson Olacio worked 3 and 1/3 innings of relief, allowing both home runs to Cuevas while striking out four batters.

Paul Davis (1-0) earned the win for Augusta, tossing 3 and 1/3 scoreless innings of relief after the Intimidators scored all four runs off starter Joseph Biagini.

Kannapolis third baseman Rangel Ravelo singled in the fourth inning, extended his current hitting streak to 14 games. Ravelo went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The seven-game losing streak is the longest by the Intimidators since losing seven in a row July 14-21, 2008.
