Shootout Contest Ends 3-2 for Idaho

Las Vegas - The Idaho Steelheads outlasted the Las Vegas Wranglers tonight, taking the game with a final score of 3-2 after six shootout rounds.

The lone goal of the first came in the last three minutes of the period. Wranglers center Judd Blackwater netted a late power play goal to give Las Vegas a 1-0 lead, but Idaho quickly tied the game up early in the second. At 3:43, Steelheads forward Cody Purves scored to make it a 1-1 game, but midway through the period, Wranglers right wing Ryan Weston regained the lead for Las Vegas.

The 2-1 advantage for the Wranglers held until the last five minutes of the game, when Steelheads defenseman Steven Tarasuk tallied a goal for Idaho's second tie of the night. With neither team able to score in regulation, overtime and a shootout were forced in the 2-2 game. After six rounds, the Steelheads took game one of the weekend series 3-2, with Las Vegas outshooting Idaho 35-24 and collecting a point in the loss.

The same two teams battle tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. as "Regrettable Tattoo Night" returns to Orleans Arena for the second season. Thousands of dollars in tattoo removal and cover-up prizes will be awarded to fans with the worst tattoos throughout the night. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
