Trenton Titans News Release

READING, Pa. - No doubt the Titans and Reading Royals have played their share of tight games this season.

As one would expect, Friday night's battle before 4,526 Sovereign Center fans followed that script. The Royals (32-28-3-4-71), battling for the final playoff spot in the ECHL Eastern Conference, edged the Titans (21-37-3-6-51), 3-2, in a shootout.

The Titans did manage to pick up a point for the third straight game.

Adam Presizniuk put the Titans ahead, 1-0, on the power play with 3:13 remaining in the first period. Andy Bohmbach and Chris Poli earned the assists and the opening period ended that way.

The Royals then retaliated a pair of second-period goals in 55 seconds, with Ian O'Connor netting his 16th 8:39 into the period and Matt Caruana his eighth at 9:44. Thanks to a hustling play by Poli, the Titans tied the game a 2-2 at the 11:58 mark, scoring his third goal as Derrick Pallis and Presizniuk picked up the assists.

Both Titans goalie Brad Phillips and Royals netminder Mark Owuya made game-saving stops in both a scoreless third period and overtime before the Royals scored their second shootout win vs. the Titans, who are 0-6 in such games, this season.

Presziniuk received the game's Third Ace for the Titans, who will host Reading at 7 p.m. Saturday in Irish Heritage Night. The teams will play again in Reading Sunday afternoon.
