
Sharks reassign goaltender Nolan Schaefer to Barons

CLEVELAND - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced that the club has reassigned goaltender Nolan Schaefer to the Cleveland Barons.
Schaefer has appeared in 30 games for the Barons this season, earning a 12-17-1 record with a 3.37 goals against average and a .887 save percentage. By defeating San Antonio on December 27 and 29, Schaefer became the first goaltender in Barons history to record back-to-back shutouts.
In seven games with the Sharks this season, the six-foot-two, 200-pound native of Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan posted a 5-1-0 record with a 1.88 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. He was victorious in his first five games, becoming the first Shark to begin his career with five consecutive wins. Schaefer also posted his first career shutout in a 1-0 overtime win against Anaheim on Nov. 4
Schaefer was originally selected by San Jose in the fifth round (166th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
In related news, the Barons have loaned goaltender Jamie Holden to the Fresno Falcons.
Holden posted a 5-7-0 record with the Barons this season. He owns a 3.50 goals against average and a .894 save percentage. Holden earned the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week honors for the period ending November 6 after going 3-0-0 with a 1.62 goals against average and .952 save percentage.
In 21 games with Fresno, Holden has a 14-4-3 record with a 2.60 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.
