Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Road Warriors 2-0 on Saturday night on the night the Ducks welcomed their five millionth fan through the gates at Bethpage Ballpark.

Both teams traded zeroes into the seventh inning as Ducks' starter Shane Youman and Road Warriors' starter Christopher Mason were brilliant. Long Island finally got on the board with two runs in the seventh against Omar Javier. Following a walk to Matt Padgett, Erick Monzon crushed a two-run homer to left-center field.

That was all Youman (6-1) needed to pick up the win, as he tossed seven innings of shutout baseball, allowing six hits while striking out six. Mason pitched five shutout innings but did not factor into the decision. Javier (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on one hit and two walks in two innings of relief. Ehren Wassermann earned his eighth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
