York, PA - The York Revolution is pleased to announce that Manager Andy Etchebarren has agreed to return to guide the club for the 2012 season. After leading the team to the 2010 Atlantic League Championship, the Revolution continue their winning ways on the field in the 2011 season, currently holding an overall season record of 45-33, the best 78-game record in team history.

"I am thrilled that Andy has agreed to manage for another year," said Revolution President & General Manager Eric Menzer. "The success on the field is obvious. He has set a tone that demands hustle and discipline on the field, and he calls it as he sees it. Our fans appreciate that - it's a good fit with the work ethic and character of York County."

Menzer cited Etchebarren's work in the community as another strength. "Andy clearly has bonded with our fans. I go places with him occasionally and everyone knows him, everyone wants to talk to him, whether it's about the Revolution or their memory of him helping the Orioles win the 1966 and 1970 World Series. He never hesitates to engage with people - he's always happy to talk - it's just great to see that kind of relationship between our Manager and the community."

Etchebarren came to the Revolution late in the 2009 season, hired as Manager on August 12 of that year. 2012 will be his third full season with York, after being hired away from the rival Southern Maryland Blue Crabs where he was Bench Coach in 2008 and to begin 2009.

A long Major League playing career as a catcher which began in 1962, predominantly with the Orioles and then the Angels and Brewers to finish up, led to an even longer career in coaching and managing. Etchebarren went on to the Major League coaching staff of the Milwaukee Brewers following his playing days in 1978 for nine seasons, before returning to his roots with the Baltimore Orioles as a Major League coach, minor league manager and roving minor league catching instructor. Prior to taking the reins in York, Etchebarren managed at every level in the O's system, from Rookie Ball to Triple-A and was a part of the Major League coaching staff for the most recent playoff teams in Baltimore.

Etchebarren, a Major League All-Star in 1966 and 1967, will turn 69 during next season.
