Bluefish Double Up Patriots 6-3

Bridgewater, NJ- The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Somerset Patriots 6-3 before 6,829 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night.

The Patriots jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a solo homerun to left field by Matt Hagen (8).

Somerset added to their lead in the bottom of the third after Dan DeGeorge (1) drove his first career homerun over the left field wall for the 2-0 advantage.

Adam Greenberg led off the sixth with a triple for Bridgeport and Andres Perez followed with an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Bluefish rallied to score four runs to take the lead in the seventh highlighted by an RBI single by Greenberg that brought home both Brock Peterson and Luis Rodriguez.

The Patriots scored a run in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Hagen to cut the lead to 5-3.

Bridgeport answered right back in the eighth on a solo homerun by Peterson (5) to make the score 6-3.

Bridgeport starter Paul Oseguera (7-3) got the win after allowing two runs on five hits in six innings pitched. Patriots reliever Ron Villone (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on three hits and retiring only one batter. Juan Rincon picked up his 14th save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday night when the Patriots take on the Bridgeport Bluefish in a double-header beginning at 5:05 pm.
