Orlando, FL - Forward C.J. Severn had four points on a goal and three assists and C Ryan Cruthers scored twice as the Solar Bears collected a 6-1 win over the Evansville IceMen at the Amway Center on Wednesday night.

The Solar Bears jumped out to an early lead, when Cruthers struck at 5:58 of the opening stanza. Severyn moved the puck to C Mathew Sisca, and Sisca slapped a pass to Cruthers on the back door for a tap in goal. D Michael Wilson stretched the lead to 2-0 when he blasted a one-timer off a pass from Severyn with 2:41 left to put Orlando ahead 2-0.

F Derrick Burnett stretched the Solar Bears advantage to 3-0 when he scored his first professional goal in the middle frame. At 7:14, F Rob Mignardi stole the puck in the defensive zone, rushed up the ice, and dropped the puck to Burnett. Burnett fired his shot off the right goal post to beat G Paul Dainton. Evansville answered with their first goal of the night when C Jason Dale set up RW Andre Bouvet-Morrissette, who walked all alone out of the right corner and tucked a backhand past G Zoltan Hetenyi with 6:05 left in the second stanza. The Solar Bears came right back with a goal of their own when Cruthers tipped a shot from D Ryan Blair underneath the crossbar for his second of the night at 17:02 of the second period. Orlando led 4-1 heading into the dressing room after 40 minutes of play.

Just over three minutes into the third period, RW Justin Levac netted his first goal as a Solar Bear. F Scott Tanski had his shot from the left side blocked but Levac scooped up the rebound and buried his opportunity for his first ECHL marker. Severyn notched the final goal of the game, and his fourth point of the contest, with 3:09 left to play when he redirected a pass from Cruthers through the legs of Dainton, securing a 6-1 win for Orlando. Hetenyi stopped 35 of 36 shots to earn third star honors in his Solar Bears debut.
