'Blades Acquire Defenseman Brent Henley from Fort Wayne

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Wednesday that the team has acquired defenseman Brent Henley from the Fort Wayne Komets in exchange for cash. .

Henley, 32, joins the Everblades having posted a goal and nine assists, and 145 penalty minutes in 42 games played with Fort Wayne this season. The 6-7, 250-pound blue liner went scoreless with nine penalty minutes in five games played this year with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

The 11-year pro, led the Central Hockey League (CHL) with a +29 and 201 penalty minutes while playing for Fort Wayne last season. Henley has appeared in 114 AHL games throughout his career, and has played in 223 ECHL since 2001. The Coquitlam, BC native has totaled 11 goals, 65 assists and 1,999 penalty minutes during his 11-year career.

The "˜Blades will take on the Evansville IceMen this Friday night at Germain Arena beginning at 7:30. The two teams will meet again on Saturday at Germain Arena at 7:00 p.m. Also on Saturday, the Everblades Alumni game against FGCU takes place at 4:30 p.m.
