Matchup:
The Solar Bears and IceMen come together tonight for the final time in the 2012-13 season, the first for both teams in the ECHL. Orlando is looking to get back to their winning ways on home ice after suffering back-to-back losses against the South Carolina Stingrays last weekend. The Solar Bears kicked off the weekend with a come-from-behind 4-3 overtime win over the Stingrays, but were unable to replicate those results in the final two games. The IceMen were in action for two games last Friday and Saturday, earning two straight wins over the Fort Wayne Komets in a home-and-home series. Going into the weekend, Evansville had won just one time in their previous 10 games, going 1-8-1-0 over that span. Orlando and Evansville have met one time previously this season, with Evansville earning a 5-1 win over the Solar Bears on January 4 in Evansville.
Solar Bears Notes:
Orlando is playing their fourth game of an eight game homestand tonight. They will be in action tomorrow and Friday against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. both nights, and will close the homestand with a pair of games against the Reading Royals on February 28 and March 2... G Patrick Killeen has played nine straight games for Orlando. The only one of those contests he did not start was on February 9 in Florida... Former Solar Bear Mike Liambas was named the first star of the game for the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Sunday when he scored the game winning goal in a 3-1 victory over the Abbotsford Heat. Since being loaned to Milwaukee, Liambas has played six games scoring one goal and earning 26 penalty minutes (PIM)... D Michael Wilson, who returned to the Solar Bears last weekend after a stint in the AHL, is tied for sixth among defensemen with 23 assists... G Mike Brodeur, D Josh Caron, F Dan Dries, D Sean Lorenz, and F Dale Mahovsky remain on the 21-day IR.
IceMen Notes:
C Todd Robinson leads the league with 51 assists and is seventh with 55 points... LW Josh Beaulieu is tied for second in the ECHL with 11 power play goals... The IceMen are fifth on the penalty kill on the road at 83.8 percent (98-for-117)... Evansville is 8th on the power play at 19.9 percent (44-for-221) and 5th on the penalty kill at 84.5 percent (224-for-265)... C Todd Robinson leads the IceMen in assists (51) and points (55). LW Josh Beaulieu leads the team in goals (22).
