Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones tapped into lucky and unlucky superstitions by knocking in seven runs on 13 hits - in the end, it turned out to be an unlucky night as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks won their second straight at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, 9-7, in front of 7,613 on Saturday night.

The offensive firepower was there for the T-Bones, who scored in four innings and had had eight starters collect hits. Kyle Nichols hit safely three times while knocking in a run, and Kennard Jones, Jairo Perez and Luis Rivera also had multi-hit nights. Rivera's line included a double and three RBIs.

Fargo-Moorhead instead claimed the victory with its own potent offensive performance. The RedHawks knocked 15 hits and scored in five consecutive innings, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning. Seven RedHawks had RBIs by the night's end.

Rick Zagone (0-2) went four innings for the T-Bones, allowing eight hits and five runs. Michael Joyce threw 1 2/3 innings in relief and gave up four runs.

Jake Laber (6-5) made it through 6 2/3 innings but gave up six runs on eight hits. He struck out three and walked four.

The finale of the series between Kansas City and Fargo-Moorhead begins Sunday evening at 5:05 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
