Laredo Lemurs News Release
Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (44-36) send five pitchers to the mound and give up only one run in a 4-1 win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs (42-36) Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
Lemurs starting pitcher Michael Suk went four innings, working out of trouble in each frame without allowing a run.
Lemurs' newcomer Sean Tracey took over on the mound in the fifth and earned the win, going two, giving up one run, on four hits. Tracey worked out of trouble leaving four AirHogs stranded in his two innings of work.
The Lemurs would then turn to their mainstays to shut down the AirHogs. Jamison May pitched out of trouble leaving two stranded in the seventh. Mark Haynes allowed two base runners but was able to leave both stranded in the eighth. Chad Povich pitched the ninth and walked two batters, but got the final out to bounce to second base to help the Lemurs lock up the win.
Josh Strawn took the loss for the AirHogs, going seven, giving up four runs, on eight hits, with one walk, and one strikeout.
The Lemurs offense came from Brian Peterson who went two for four and drove in a run in the eighth. Garrett Buechele went one for three with a sac fly that drove in a run to give him a two RBI night.
The AirHogs had plenty of chances to score runs Saturday night, as they picked up 14 hits, and left 16 runners stranded on the base paths.
The win puts the Lemurs a game and a half up over the AirHogs in the American Association South. The Lemurs will host the AirHogs for one more game tomorrow night before hitting the road for a game in El Paso on Tuesday.
The Lemurs have one more home stand this season. The Sioux City Explores will come to town and face the Lemurs for the first time in their existence on Tuesday, August 20th at 7:30pm at Uni-Trade Stadium.
